About Us

Zimbabwe National Quality Assurance Programme (ZINQAP) is a not-for-profit making organization whose mission is to assist laboratories attain and maintain a high performance, thus assuring the laboratory staff and clinicians that, results sent out are reliable and timely. The ultimate goal is to improve patient care by, instituting a comprehensive EQA/PT programme and reinforcing Internal Quality control procedures, which cover all major medical laboratory disciplines and every medical laboratory in the country.

The organization was formed in 1995 and is governed by a Board of Trustees. The board is made up of leaders from different stakeholder organizations, such as The Ministry of Health and Child Welfare (MOHCW), University of Zimbabwe (UZ), Standards Association of Zimbabwe (SAZ), Law Society of Zimbabwe, Private Medical Laboratories Association (PMLA) as well as the National Blood Services Zimbabwe (NBSZ).


Organizational Structure
The following is the current organizational structure. However, please note that ZINQAP is undergoing a series of changes and thus a new structure will be available in the near future.




Expert Committees
In order to offer quality PT schemes and provide the necessary professional expertise that best meets the needs of the participants, ZINQAP receives advice from four Expert Committees drawn from active PT scheme participants and professional bodies. Each Expert Committee comprises a minimum of five and a maximum of twelve experts in the fields of Immunology, Microbiology, Clinical Chemistry and Haematology/Blood Transfusion. Expert Committee meetings are held biannually and the dates for these meetings are agreed upon by the various Expert Committees. Experts are drawn from the following organizations.
