CONFERENCE (ZASCO 2010)

ZINQAP Annual Scientific Conference

Dear Colleagues

I’m pleased to announce that the ZINQAP Annual Scientific Conference is scheduled for 19th-20th May 2010. The conference will draw a wide audience from the Ministry of Health & Child Welfare, Ministry of Industry Commerce, public and private laboratories, research laboratories, institutions of higher learning, and representatives from funding partners. The conference will also have speakers from various stakeholders in laboratory services such as accreditation bodies, the Medical Laboratory & Clinical Scientists Council of Zimbabwe, the National Laboratory Association of Zimbabwe, the Standards Association of Zimbabwe, and the University Of Zimbabwe College Of Health Sciences among others.

This is an important event not to be missed. The event provides different opportunities to all stakeholders. To Suppliers, this is an excellent opportunity to market your products as the event will bring together decision makers from all laboratories in Zimbabwe and even abroad.

To the practicing Medical Laboratory Scientists, the event will provide knowledge and information on laboratory accreditation and other new developments in Medical laboratory technology.

Delegates are invited to submit abstracts for poster presentation and / or oral presentations. The abstracts can be emailed to ZINQAP using the email address

Dates
Conference shall be held on the 19-20th May 2010. This is a two day conference.

Venue
Meikles Hotel, Stewart Room

Registration Fees
  • Registration fees are US$ 10
  • Registration fees for non-ZINQAP members are US$100.
  • Presenters shall have free registration.
  • Medical laboratories who have returned greater than 70% of their ZNQAP PT results will have one member from their laboratories registered free of charge by ZINQAP. Please check with ZINQAP for your eligibility.
  • Fees should be paid at least two weeks before the conference date.
NB: There are limited places available so please register and pay early to avoid disappointment.

Accommodation
ZINQAP will not provide accommodation to the conference participants. Delegates are required to secure their own accommodation. However ZINQAP can assist participants to secure affordable accommodation in Harare. You can contact us on info@zinqap.org.zw to arrange for accommodation.



Information for Authors

Guidelines for Poster Presenters

General
Poster presentations offer participants a unique opportunity to present their work in a format, for which there is more time for discussion and questions than is sometimes available in a Plenary lectures session. Poster submissions are welcomed in any of the areas identified in the conference themes. Poster presentations will be held in the Exhibit Area, located in the Stewart Foyer of the Stewart Room.

Surface availability
Each poster presenter is allocated the following surface: 120 cm high x 90 cm wide.

Setup

Authors may begin mounting their posters at 17:00hrs on Tuesday, 18th May 2010, and should be completed by 09:00 hrs on the 19th of May 2010. The posters should remain in place until end of conference on Thursday, 20th May 2010.



Guidelines for Speakers

General

Oral scientific sessions, including plenary sessions will be held in the Stewart Room,

Available technology
Video-projectors with attached notebooks will be available. Using participants’ own notebook is not allowed. Save your presentation to a CD-ROM and a USB Storage Device and bring it with you.
Speakers using PowerPoint presentations are requested to hand their presentations to ZINQAP members of staff latest Monday 17th of May 2010.

Schedule
On account of the tight schedule, the conference secretariat would kindly like to ask you to respect the time limit for contributions. The secretariat would like to encourage the contributors to limit presentations (including discussions) to the following times:

Invited lecture: 30 minutes
Other presentation: 15 minutes

Speakers are kindly requested to inform their section chair during the coffee break about their presence and they way they would like to be introduced.

Preparation for the PowerPoint presentation

The presentation must be provided on a Microsoft Windows – compatible system. The Macintosh – format is not supported by the available notebooks. Try to avoid overloading your presentation with unnecessary images. We only supply fonts that are included in the basic installation of Windows. Using special fonts might be displayed incorrectly
